  • Retro Kitchen

    My Daughter Mackenzie and I did this photo on my Advanced Studio class set today. The retro kitchen was constructed by students and has been up for a few weeks. It comes down tomorrow. It was a lot of fun to do. Everything is not as it seems, the cabinet doors are made out of foam core and the fridge is a particle board box...

  • Scheimpflug Selective Focus

    One of the best ways to draw the viewers attention to the "star" of a photograph and away from distracting or competing compositional elements is to use the "Scheimpflug selective focus" technique.

  • Rooftop Set

    In these days of digital composite images, photographers are often required to add a virtual background that completes and enhances the set or location. In this rooftop set, constructed in the 9th floor studio, photographers George Ferris (left) and Geoff Ridenour (right) had to maintain the same vanishing point in both the real foreground, and the virtual background, for their final images to seem believable and for the foreground and the background elements to seamlessly stitch together.

  • Advanced Studio Progress

    We are just wrapping up the second section of an advanced studio class. In this class students constructed a set and then executed production shots of their own design.
